OK, Saturday turned out to be one of the prettiest days we’ve had in a while. I loaded the boat on the car Friday night, ready for an early start.
I went to the new Don Carter State park, put in and paddled down to the Olympic Rowing Venue (1996 Summer Olympics) and back. Details here: http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=2251723
It was a great day! By far, my longest outing. The north end of the run (closest to the State Park), the water was smooth without a lot of other boaters. But, the south end (closer to Clarks Bridge) was a wild ride! Lots of power boats making waves. I have to say, my Pelican rode it out just fine. Not to jinx myself, but I’ve logged over 30 miles in 4 outings in this thing, rode out some pretty choppy water, and I’ve not tipped over…. YET!
